Tequilas Restaurant Restaurant Review:

A fixture in Philly since David Suro opened it in 1986, Tequilas is lovely with its glittering chandeliers, colorful murals of Mexican life, and los catrines, the whimsical skeletons that were symbols of the 1910 revolution. The kitchen turns out all manner of Mexican food from various parts of that country, everything carefully spelled out in Suro’s poetic menu descriptions. Have margaritas by all means, and try the empanadas and anything that contains huitlacoche or a mole sauce. Happy hour, which kicks off at 2 p.m. --- unusual in Philly --- is a good deal and includes discounted appetizers at the bar. The crêpe with vanilla ice cream is fine for dessert. Choose from a 100-bottle tequila list that includes Siembra Azul, Suro’s own Kosher, 100-percent blue agave, small-batch tequila.
