THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Lumiere Restaurant Review:
This French go-to bistro is located right across from the West Newton Cinema. The space is refined yet striking in off-whites, thanks to star designer Sandra Fairbank. Chef/owner Jordan Bailey has taken the reins from longtime chef/owner Michael Leviton. He presents a chef’s tasting menu as well as à la carte offerings. For main dishes, pair a classic cocktail with Gloucester haddock with beets, watercress, grapefruit, roasted fennel, basil and lemon vinaigrette, or a glass of Pinot Noir with the roasted veal tenderloin with roasted escarole, pickled onion soubise, and olive and cornichon salsa verde. Don’t miss the ever-changing cheese platter for dessert. And though the food is costly, a smart selection of wines by the glass has yet to hit the price-heights scaled by Lumière's downtown counterparts.
