Marble Slab Creamery Restaurant Review:

On busy Veterans Memorial Boulevard in Metairie, Marble Slab is a sweet stop on a hot day. Patrons choose an ice cream flavor, which is then scooped out and set on the namesake frozen marble slabs to be combined with "mixins" such as fruits, nuts and candies. Toppings range from Oreos, Gummy Bears and chopped nuts to more exotic selections including pistachios, mango and pecan pralines (this is New Orleans, after all). Among the ice cream flavors you might find vanilla bean, butter pecan, coffee and cheesecake. Milk shakes, fruit smoothies and low-fat yogurt are also available. Marble Slab Creamery turns out ice cream cupcakes, too (try the cherry chocolate or the butter pecan pie).
