Marker 88 Restaurant Restaurant Review:
Around sunset, locals and visitors alike flock here to perch on stools at the open outdoor bar, or even stroll the sands and the dock. It is a picture of paradise, and just the setting alone would be a draw. As it turns out, since 1967, the likes of former presidents and other celebrities have dined here, enjoying both the patio and the cool, indoor dining room with a view. The menu has established itself for being just exotic enough to offer an adventure, but not too unusual to alienate anyone. Seafood classics like oysters Rockefeller, a crab cake with Pommery mustard, and a Captain's Platter are duly represented, but so are unexpected selections like a lobster and mango guacamole, and Mahi Martinique topped with grilled bananas. Meat offerings stand out with regionally-inspired preparations, such as a mangrove honey and chipotle-glazed rib-eye. For dessert, the retro flamboyant Key lime baked Alaska is a refreshing break from Key lime pie. If a colorful, rum-dizzy cocktail is not your preference, the wine list offers ample choices.
