Matteo's Restaurant Review:

Matteo’s, a longtime favorite of Frank Sinatra, remains one of L.A.’s most revered old-style Italian restaurants. You’ll find roomy leather booths, crimson walls with mirrors, and sparkling white lights accenting a colorful scene. The vitello tonnato is a classic, well-executed starter of cold roast veal thinly sliced and topped with a creamy tuna, caper and anchovy sauce. Among pastas are duck lasagna and ravioli with short rib and aged Parmesan. Cioppino is lighter in style, utilizing a fish and saffron broth rather than the usual thick tomato alternative. Dishes may also include filet mignon or chestnut crêpe with porcini mushroom. Tiramisu is the optimal dessert, and there is a decent wine list with California and Italian selections.
