THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Matthew's Restaurant Restaurant Review:

Owner and sometimes chef Matthew Popkin has brought the best of his French Quarter culinary roots to his namesake spot in Unionville. N'awlins-style favorites including candied bourbon sweet potatoes, shrimp gumbo and coquilles St-Jacques are featured on a menu that also includes traditional fare, such as osso buco, strip steak and beef Wellington. The veteran restaurateur is hands-on when it comes to service and is adept at preparing tableside Caesar salads or flaming bananas Foster. Regular specials include dry-rubbed jumbo shrimp served with cheddar grits, crab meat pie and jambalaya. Red snapper is seared and topped with shrimp, lump crab meat, mushrooms, tomatoes, and Pontchartrain sauce. For those who like to keep an eye on their purse strings, there is an early evening fixed-price sunset menu for $21. The more casual and always lively pub is the scene of a daily happy hour and lighter fare is offered, too. When the weather is right, enjoy the outdoor deck with a view of the river and a walkway that is perfect for an after-dinner stroll.
