THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Meehan's Public House Restaurant Review:
Fare from the Irish pub repertoire includes mussels, shepherd's pie and Irish stew (both made with lamb as they should be), lightly battered fish 'n' chips, and bangers and mash. Traditional Irish breakfast, right down to the black-and-white pudding, is served at all times. The menu rotates every six months, but the famous meatloaf from Food 101, a sister institution, is a mainstay. For table-sharing, we especially like the salt-and-vinegar chips and the “devils on horseback,” bacon-wrapped medjool dates. Still other dishes speak local: fried pickles and buttermilk-soaked chicken tenders. After that the menu goes international, with everything from nachos to burgers, including one made from venison. For dessert, focus on the Jameson Irish Whiskey bread pudding. At this family-friendly establishment, children are welcomed until 9 p.m.; after that, one must be 21 to enter unless accompanied by a parent. Other locations.
