Mignonette Restaurant Review:

This unassuming, dimly lit restaurant is nestled on a shady corner directly across from a cemetery. Chef-partner Daniel Serfer (Blue Collar) along with full-time lawyer, part-time food blogger Ryan Roman turned the 1930s building and once gas station into a neighborhood seafood shack inspired by New Orleans oyster bars. Serfer, an Allen Susser protégé, shows his deft hand at shucking oysters (the place goes through 1,500 raw bivalves monthly) and cooking up elevated fare in the form of seared scallops swimming in habanero beurre blanc and finished with watercress, spinach, crispy tasso and tomato; rainbow trout with crawfish andouille and maque choux; and a warm Maine lobster roll served alongside homemade potato chips. It's not all about seafood and oysters, though. Choose from bone-in prime rib and steak Diane with herbed spätzle and doused in Cognac for meaty measure, as well as a hefty selection of vegetables and greens (think roasted cauliflower with smoked trout roe mayo). For dessert, there’s a daily pie and Blue Collar's famed butterscotch heath bar pudding with cayenne whipped cream, which has found a sweet second home.
