Millie's Restaurant Review:

Occupying a stretch of Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake that is still more edgy than fashionable, Millie's attracts neighborhood hipsters for hearty portions of inventive breakfast items. Robert Babish has owned Millie’s since 2000, and he’s made sure to maintain many beloved eatery traditions dating back to 1926. The counter offers a view of the skilled grill men, but we prefer the sidewalk seating along Sunset, beneath a wide green awning. The Devil’s Mess features eggs scrambled with fistfuls of shredded white cheddar and Cajun-spiced turkey sausage. Neptune’s Mess is a blend of eggs, smoked salmon, scallions and cream cheese. Millie’s Heavenly Hash contains little filler and hosts a nice outer crust. Eggs Benedict---also consider the salmon Benedict with spinach---are generously bathed in a supple hollandaise, and paired with the kitchen’s skin-on rosemary potatoes. There are also pancakes with bananas and roasted walnuts or fresh berries. Lunch items (served all day) range from burritos, variations on the BLT, and a vegetarian burger made with a black bean patty.
