The true draw of this homey spot is the pie. Long before pie was de rigueur, Mission Pie was serving slices with a story. Selections change seasonally, with local ingredients and produce sourced from nearby farms. Mission Pie summer offerings might include favorites such as banana cream pie and walnut pie, plus mixed berry pie, peach pie, vegan apricot pie and more. If you're feeling orderly, start with something savory first: a seasonal quiche or galette stuffed with beets and blue cheese, or a personal potpie. There's coffee, espresso and a small selection of muffins, scones and macaroons that also satisfy. We like everything about this cozy neighborhood hangout, but heartily suggest a slice of something sweet---and don't forget the whipped cream.
