Mona's Cafe Restaurant Review:

The original Mona’s Cafe fits right into its surrounding neighborhood; it shares space with a supermarket filled with specialties from the eastern Mediterranean, and makes few concessions to Western tastes. The place occupies a former filling station, although you’d never know it, and is bright and airy and adorned with softly lit murals of the Mediterranean. First-timers are wise to try the sampler plate: baba ghanouj, grape leaves, tabbouleh, falafel and kibbeh. Traditional Middle Eastern dishes --- falafel, gyros and hummus --- are done with native expertise. Marinades and seasoning mixes are well-composed, too. Lamb chops and kebabs, prepared with just the right char, are made with fresh, quality ingredients. Pair your food with Lebanese iced tea, made with rosewater and pine nuts. For dessert, look for the classics of the region, such as baklava. Prices will put a grin on any skinflint's face. Mona’s Cafe does not serve alcohol.
