The Monk's Kettle Restaurant Review:

The first reason to visit this cozy, classic and often packed tavern just off the Valencia Street strip is obvious: the restaurant offers 24 draught and more than 120 bottles from craft breweries in Belgium, Germany, California and beyond. Styles range from pilsners to porters, so aficionados and newbies alike can find something appealing. The upscale pub fare pairs well with the drink. Not only are there beer-friendly favorites such as charcuterie and cheese plates, but an addictive, buttery, giant pretzel served with whole grain mustard and a house-made, cheddar-ale dipping sauce is also available. For entrées, the sandwiches and burgers are all solid choices, especially a lamb burger topped with a cool, tangy cucumber-mint sauce, and a grilled chicken sandwich that gets dressed up with Brie and bacon. More sophisticated fare includes a brined pork chop and grilled skirt steak. Whereas other restaurants might offer wine pairings, each dish on The Monk’s Kettle’s menu gets a beer suggestion. Servers and bartenders are knowledgeable, friendly and willing to pour samples in teensy beer mugs.
