Nighttown Restaurant Review:

Named after the red light district in James Joyce’s Ulysses, Nighttown features live music and livelier food seven days a week. Tiffany-style lamps cast flattering light while dark, wood-paneled walls are lined with stained glass panels and collectible clutter. It's just up the hill from University Circle and Little Italy, so you can expect a diverse crowd. The food --- served in surprisingly hearty portions --- is full of robust flavors and is built to keep seasonal ingredients in the center of the plate. House-cured meats as well as fresh seafood are especially popular. Start with the steamed whole artichoke or the cheese and charcuterie, which changes daily. Followed it with ancho honey glazed pork chops served with saffron sofrito rice and a sweet cherry tomato relish. The lobster roll is also quite classic and tasty. For dessert, if you’re not sipping a Cognac, small batch bourbon or single malt scotch, try the New York cheesecake. It’s homemade and topped with whipped cream and raspberry coulis.
