THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Olivar Restaurant Review:

Chef-owner Philippe Thomelin’s neighborhood bistro is located in the historic Loveless Building across from the Harvard Exit Theater. The restaurant's tiny jewel box dining room is lit enchantingly with low lights and decorated with Russian fairytale murals dating to the 1930s. But don’t expect intimate conversations because unfortunately the noise level is high. Nonetheless, small plates and tapas are complemented by a reasonably priced wine list and friendly service. Given the generous portions, two can easily share several starters and one larger plate. Favorites include potato gnocchi, sautéed scallops with fennel confit, and peppers stuffed with potatoes and braised pork. Larger plates may feature squid ink risotto and braised rabbit. Round off your meal with a slice of chocolate hazelnut tart with salted caramel ice cream.
