THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Pasar Malam Restaurant Review:

Malaysian cuisine in New York City has always been a mediocre affair, but this Williamsburg restaurant might change all that. Pasar Malam, a Malay word that means “night market,” is decked out to look like just that: signs line the walls announcing certain dishes, as if the room hosted stands selling said food. The menu is lengthy; however, you’d be off to a nice start with some roti canai, tortilla-like bread that’s dipped in a curry sauce (the roti is refreshingly free of grease). Murtabak, a flat cake stuffed with beef and onions, is complemented by the same sauce. We also recommend the popular Malaysian chili crab; here, the kitchen fries the soft-shell crab (it’s usually steamed), making it much easier to eat. For dessert, try the “roti Elvis,” roti smeared with peanut butter wrapped around a fried banana. You’ll leave “all shook up,” and in a good way.
