Tacos Tequila Whiskey Restaurant Review:

This kitschy, and quirky, taqueria began as a roving food truck wheeling around local farmers markets. The truck still slings tacos all around town, but the brick-and-mortar, a festive playground for energetic groups with an obsession for out-of-the-box creations, also ballyhoos a bar stockpiled with just about every bottle of tequila imaginable, not to mention an enviable scroll of mezcal. And nothing pairs better with south-of-the-border liquid assets (the coin-style margaritas are terrific) than street tacos. And here, within the exposed brick interior stamped with rusticated accents, the pulsating kitchen turns out locally made corn tortillas hugging ingredients like pan-roasted shrimp and scallops; triple-cooked Colorado beef tongue; slow-roasted barbacoa; and griddled cotija cheese slapped with slices of avocado and a tart tomatillo salsa. And while the tacos have a monopoly of devotees, few can resist the house-made churros side-kicked with Mexican hot chocolate.
