Family-run and homey, Your Place stands out mainly because of its authentic approach to Thai food. Seafood and vegetable dishes are the stars, among which we recommend the shrimp in a rich garlic sauce. Bestsellers include beef and chicken satay skewers, sweet-and-sour chicken (light, crisp and decidedly different from its better-known Chinese counterpart) and spicy barbecued meats. To wrap up, go for the coconut ice cream. The large menu of lunch specials offers good value. The room is adorned with Thai art and divided by fish tanks, and there’s often a cluster of people waiting in the small foyer for a table to open up. The drawback is that service has, for years, been inconsistent.
