Prohibition Gastrohouse Restaurant Review:

While Prohibition Gastrohouse places a strong focus on premium beers, spirits and wines at the bar, the food is more than a complement to the libations. After ordering a drink, sample some fresh oysters, which change daily. The space is divided nicely so that diners can have a quieter meal without being disturbed by those who choose to watch sports or have a game of pool. The menu is quite extensive, with everything from flatbread pizzas and sandwiches to chicken and waffles or braised lamb shank. Large salads are meals in themselves. The niçoise is a deconstructed version of the original with a round of chopped tuna on one side of the plate and the olives, beans and tomatoes on the other. The pulled pork sandwich and bison burger (made with organic Alberta bison) are on hand to satisfy heartier appetites. Weekend brunch offers many regular menu items, with the addition of the Mexicana waffle, topped with a bison-chorizo chili and maple cheddar, and a massive burrito stuffed with all the fixings. A scaled-down, late-night menu is available every day as well. A daily "Hooch Hour" has items with reduced prices between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., and again from 10 p.m. until midnight.
