Public School 310 Restaurant Review:

Public School 310 is another member of the growing gastropub and beer-centric venues that have taken over Culver City. What was once the Mediterranean-themed dining room of Fraîche has been transformed into an industrial yet homey space with splashes of elementary school knickknacks. Menus look like composition books, while tables resemble school desks; happy hour is called recess. Staff can explain the flavors of specialty brews from around the world, like Midas Touch by Dogfish Head and Allagash Curieux. Beers are the best quaff to pair with the hearty and rather salty cuisine. A starter of crispy calamari is made spicy and citrusy using togarashi (Japanese nine-spice). Lighter fare comes in the form of salads, a particularly good one having succulent shrimp, red quinoa, cucumber, arugula and pine nuts. There are also quite a few winning large plates, such as layered lamb bolognese with pappardelle, and beef short ribs braised in Dragoons Irish Ale. The burger is one of the better iterations we’ve tasted in some time, the moist beef patty topped with balsamic onions, Bibb lettuce, tomato, and simultaneously tangy and smoky Huntsman cheese. Desserts are limited to a chocolate stout brownie and lemon meringue pie.
