THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Pupuseria Divino Corazon Restaurant Review:

There's no lack of ethnic food choices in New Orleans, but Central American food is not plentiful. Sitting just across the bridge from downtown, this cheery spot bears a name that translates as Sacred Heart Pupusa Shop. Prominently displayed within is a large framed picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The pupusa is a thick corn tortilla stuffed with meat or cheese, and at this shop they come brimming with minced pork, cheese or both. Steak tacos are showstoppers, as is the slightly addictive salsa that comes with the complimentary chips. The tamal de elote is the pupusa's top challenger, a satisfying tamale holding fresh, creamy corn and served with a sauce resembling crème fraîche. Nachos Chihuahua are also noteworthy, as are the fried plantains, rellenos and empanadas, all among the classics of the Central American snack and street-food repertoire. Deciding between the freshly baked pineapple pastries and the tres leches cake will not be easy, so perhaps go with both.
