Robust Restaurant Review:

From wine styles to tricky food pairings, the menu at Robust is practically a syllabus for learning about wine. Happily, the setting is anything but academic. By organizing his wine list according to what he calls the Robust factor, sommelier and owner Stanley Browne takes an accessible approach. Numbers below each dish indicate the suggested style pairing. There are classics like cheese and charcuterie --- priced more than fairly on the sampler platters given their excellent quality --- as well as challenging dishes for pairing, like asparagus, seasonal soups, lettuce salads and chorizo meatballs with spicy tomato sauce. Entrée-style selections range from bacon-apple-fig flatbread to pressed chicken with Brussels sprouts and butternut squash. Desserts are surprisingly sugary; cheeses are a better end to the meal. And if you find a wine you’d like to take home, the gourmet food and wine nook will be happy to supply it.
