THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Romeo's Cafe Restaurant Review:

The exterior suggests an average neighborhood Italian restaurant, but Romeo's is anything but. For one thing, it's tinier than most---nine tables, 28 seats in all. Also darker, to the extent you'll need a flashlight to read the moderately-priced wine list. No such problem perusing the regular menu---there is none. Instead, chef-owner Romeo Marjano roams from table to table to gauge diners' likes and dislikes (Do you eat ostrich? How about shellfish?), then returns to the kitchen to secretively cook up what is ostensibly your groups' personalized dinner. Sly Romeo is actually preparing pretty much the same set meal for the entire room, with substitutions served here and there, but the leisurely paced, six-course dinner still carries the suspense of a half dozen blind dates with freshly made, northern Italian cuisine. First course might be salmon carpaccio, next perhaps fettuccine with goose and truffle oil. A fish should follow, then some risotto, then main course---filet mignon or lamb chops? An easier question to answer would be wherefore art thou Romeo? He's standing by your table, asking if you'd care for a chocolate soufflé. Like the amazingly low $50 prix-fixe tab for this unique and romantic dining experience, it's an offer you shouldn't pass up.
