Salt Water Cowboys Restaurant Review:

Looming on stilts above the wildlife-laden salt marshes flanking the Intracoastal Waterway, this turn-of-the-century fish camp features handmade willow-twig furniture, rusted tin ceilings and animal skins decorating the walls. During peak seasons, the crowds are enough to require parking attendants and a lengthy wait for a table---not to worry though, there’s an outdoor bar leading to the deck where you can buy some liquid reinforcement and enjoy the views. Besides the scenery, it’s the low country cuisine people come for---such as the Florida Cracker combo, a crispy trio of frogs’ legs, cooter (soft-shelled turtle) and alligator tail. If that doesn’t whet your appetite, maybe a big bucket of freshly steamed oysters will. Be aware however, that you shuck ’em yourself. For other palates, there’s also an open-pit barbecue and plenty of hearty meat options. The atmosphere is fun, relaxed, family-oriented and people-packed---and definitely well worth the wait.
