Schaller's Stube Restaurant Review:

New York's historic German neighborhood, Yorkville, has added German street food to the area's diminishing number of storefronts. Brought to you by Schaller & Weber, the meat purveyor that has been feeding hungry carnivores since 1937, this sausage bar means quick, tasty varieties that are authentic and hearty. Order a meal from an outside window and grab a stool in a space that was formerly the holding pen and slaughtering room for the butcher. Try the currywurst, knackwurst sliced and dotted with just the right amount of curry and ketchup sauce. Traditional bratwurst is served with sauerkraut and grainy mustard. Other selections give a nod to non-German sandwiches, like the Saigon Special, bauernwurst with radishes and sriracha. Indulge in apple strudel for dessert. German beers are available on tap.
