THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS Sirio Ristorante Restaurant Review:

Set on the ground floor of The Pierre hotel, Sirio is named for Sirio Maccioni, the restaurateur behind Le Cirque. Unlike Maccioni’s other restaurant a few blocks away, this one serves straight-up Italian --- though in a similarly elegant atmosphere and among a gem-studded clientele. The menu is organized in the Italian manner --- antipasti, primi and secondi --- and in each section there are dishes that dazzle. Phyllo eggplant Parmigiana explodes with flavor, as does the short rib-like duck confit. Of the dozen pastas, the spaghetti carbonara tastes like it was just airlifted from Rome, but the real standout is the gnocchi paired with octopus. But it’s the dinosaur-size Tuscan steak that steals the show: tender and juicy throughout, as it should be, but with an exterior that manages to maintain a textural crunch. Wash it all down with a glass of wine from the not-as-expensive-as-you’d-think wine list or one of the ten or so signature cocktails; the Sirio Sour --- a whisky sour topped off with a pour of Sirio’s own red wine --- is a great choice.
