THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sompong's Thai & Chinese Cuisine Restaurant Review:

Sompong is a pioneer purveyor of Asian cuisine in San Antonio. At noon, the pastel-pink interior is thronged with diners from the nearby Medical Center, seemingly unconcerned about waiting for their spicy fare. Evening hours add true Thai aficionados to the mix. They come to sample the shredded salad of green papaya laced with lime, tomato and chilies; the minced chicken larb mixed with ground rice; and the rare sliced steak with chili sauce, poetically labeled tiger cried. They justifiably clamor for curry-steamed seafood; duck stir-fried with garlic, onion and scallion; and pad woon sen, a luxurious dish of glass noodles stir-fried with shrimp, chicken and green onions. The traditional Thai soups with either a clear base and lemon grass or a foundation of coconut milk are de rigueur, too. Vegetarians will find several dishes to enjoy, including tofu with ginger.
