THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sourdough Mining Co. Restaurant Review:

Located on the banks of Campbell Creek, this thoroughly Alaska original is housed in a reproduced millhouse and surrounded by flower boxes made from converted gold dredge buckets big enough to sit in, if they were empty. Step through the doors and enter a “mine shaft” of rock and wood, pass by a grizzly bear (properly stuffed), and discover a huge dining room featuring an array of mining tools. Specializing in family-style service---and adept at taking care of large groups---the locals like coming here to enjoy a full meal sharing chicken, ribs or Alaskan seafood, all served in super abundance. Occasionally a dish is overcooked, disappointing the whole table, but the hearty menu is vast and includes a variety of soups, salads and burgers to satisfy all appetites. The ribs, when cooked just right and juicy, are a guilty treat. For those who prefer to dine in smaller groups, individual entrées are also served. We always enjoy the Sourdough's famous “korn fritters and whipped honey butter," a house specialty. Finish with a sweet stop at the complimentary soft-serve ice cream bar. Libations are served from a full bar in the Creekside Saloon, complete with a view of the salmon stream out back.
