Square One Dining Restaurant Review:

In an area where trendy boutiques share the scene with bohemian coffeehouses, this cheerfully painted storefront café with an umbrella-laden patio is a neighborhood favorite. A version of eggs Benedict with portobello mushrooms and poached eggs on a Tuscan roll with hollandaise is a rewarding selection, as are a variety of baked egg dishes served in individual cast-iron skillets, brioche french toast with banana-citrus caramel, and stone-ground grits with butter. For lunch, try the cured salmon sandwich with apples, frisée, onions and dill aïoli on white bread, served with thyme and garlic-coated roast potatoes. Salads, like the chopped vegetable with mixed greens, honey-roasted carrots, beets, chickpeas, avocado and hearts of palm, are well prepared. Fresh-baked muffins are good both in the morning and as a dessert following lunch.
