Tableau Bar Bistro Restaurant Review:

Tableau, on the fringes of downtown and Coal Harbour, serves a French-inspired menu of updated, traditional bistro dishes using the best local ingredients. Sip a creative cocktail such as a Bourbon à la Menthe (bourbon, Amaro, mint and lemon juice), order a flute of Champagne, or quaff a craft beer while perusing the menu. Creamy mushrooms on brioche toast and a rabbit terrine are shareable starters. Steak frites, roasted duck breast and steelhead trout are standout mains from a seriously capable kitchen in the hands of chef Marc-André Choquette (MAC for short). Daily specials include Monday's pork steak, white bean and chorizo cassoulet; Tuesday's duck leg confit; and Friday's seafood bouillabaisse. Be sure to order a side of the frites for the table to share --- they're a contender for the best french fries in town. Dessert is also a must. Sweet lovers will go for the passion fruit and chocolate domed cake, soft raspberry and crispy almond meringues, and raspberry sorbet, while savory palates will enjoy a plate of local and imported cheeses. The wine list is a mix of carefully chosen BC, French, Italian, Spanish and American bottles; most are organic, biodynamic or natural wines inviting diners to explore. Service is seamless.
