THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Tagine Restaurant & Wine Bar Restaurant Review:

Deep red hues, ceramic decorative plates in the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean style along the otherwise unadorned beige walls, as well as the intimate, dimly lit bar with wicker seating, recall a charming bistro in one of the bohemian sectors of Paris. The menu is a juxtaposition and, at times, fusion of French and Moroccan cuisines. On the French side, start with the skillet roasted mussels cooked with slivered garlic, Pinot Grigio, parsley and butter. For a Moroccan prelude, choose the fattoush salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes, scallions and mint, accompanied by pita and a yogurt dip. Tagines, not surprisingly, are the focus. The Moroccan chicken with toasted Israeli couscous, wilted spinach, preserved lemon, cilantro and mint, and the vegetarian tagine with onions, garlic, ginger, tomatoes, lentils and couscous pilaf are both classically prepared. French selections such as the filet of sole meunière are as traditionally Gallic as it gets. It would not be a wine bar without a large selection of wine. Varietals from the old-world and new-world and local vineyards, too, entice one to sample and mix and match with the menu. Desserts are French, with options like tarte Tatin and baba au rhum. The no-reservations policy encourages arrivals before the evening rush hour on weekends.
