Thai Bistro II Restaurant Review:

Thai Bistro II is the second branch of the Carmel Valley family-owned restaurant. The name stuck after the original outpost closed. Dining is done in a small converted home that features the work of local artists and the sweet and spicy flavors of the northern Malay Peninsula. Those with piquant palates will rejoice. Not a hottie? Don't be shy, ask for mild, that is, if you are not asked first; the gracious owners never miss a beat. Neither does the food: start with tom yum soup. Generous pieces of chicken and mushroom swim in a broth of fresh ginger and lemon grass. Local greens bring balance to the spicy Thai beef salad. Choose from a rainbow of curries in red, yellow and green. Order a dish with seafood and chances are it was caught in Monterey Bay. All dishes are a bang for your buck, including the Bangkok duck. Come at midday to enjoy the value lunch specials complete with soup and egg roll. Favorites include drunken noodles and Tom's special----ground chicken with Thai basil and a sunny-side up egg.
