Toro Bravo Restaurant Review:

The century-old storefront with tall ceilings and large windows, the planked tables, wine-colored walls and warm lighting all create ease and comfort. Seating options vary from chatty common tables to two-tops appropriate for an intimate date. On warmer days, settle on the comfortable sidewalk, always ideal for people-watching. Tapas change daily based on the availability of local ingredients and what inspires the kitchen crew. Offerings range from standards such as patatas bravas and a tortilla Española to salt cod fritters, fried Spanish anchovies with fennel and lemon, grilled flatbread with black truffle cheese, rich harissa-stewed butternut squash, and Brussels sprouts that will redefine any negative perceptions of this hearty vegetable. For larger plates, order the chicken and clams cataplana; the coppa steak with confit, potatoes and caramelized onions; or the squid ink pasta. Paella fideos, made with noodles instead of rice, is authentic and satisfying. Add a pitcher of sangría or a bottle of wine to complete the meal. Desserts include a classic olive oil cake with blood orange caramel, and churros, Spanish-style donuts drizzled with chocolate. Pair your choice with a dessert wine or sherry. The Secret Society bar is upstairs.
