When you need a fried egg on your burger or an old-timey chocolate malt, look to Tru Burger. Its menu --- burgers, fries and shakes--- is streamlined, though we should note there’s a juicy, tempting hot dog, too. If you want to get fancy, ask for bacon, avocado, chili, mushrooms or jalapeños on your burger. Specialty burgers are worth trying: check out The Heat with sriracha mayo, jalapeños and pepperjack cheese, or the South of the Burger with queso fresco, pico de gallo and fresh sliced avocado. While the menu doesn’t feature desserts, consider indulging in a chocolate milk shake or aforementioned malt. Tru Burger serves beer, but you are invited to bring your own wine. This Carrollton eatery excels in quick service and delivering comfort food in the pleasant surroundings of a long narrow storefront, with chalkboard menus on the wall and big windows that face the bustling neighborhood.
