About the restaurant: The execution of many Irish pub-restaurants in New York feels a bit halfhearted, but Ulysses' (dig the synergy between the Greek co-owner and the Irish theme) is hardly a warmed-over effort. The attention to detail starts at the foundation: sandstone imported from County Clare serves as trim, rustic wood beams adorn the ceiling, and the bar itself is a staggering 130-foot-long behemoth.
Food & Drinks: Presumably, the length is necessary to serve over 50 varieties of brews, including Boddington’s and, of course, Guinness. Ulysses' aims to cater to Wall Street types with high-end items like platters of fresh oysters and clams, but stock and trade brewpub fare comprises the bulk of the menu. That's not to say there aren't standouts. Any of the filling entrées like chicken potpie would be good choices. For dessert, you'll find bread pudding, Baileys crème brûlée and an ice cream sundae.
