Vandal Restaurant Review:

From the restaurant/club group behind Tao and Lavo, Vandal transforms over the course of the evening from a mild-mannered bar with a “Secret Garden” room to a music-filled gathering space for party-oriented diners. The menu blends trendy forms and tastes from around the globe into a selection of small bites, appetizers and larger dishes, all meant to be shared. Combinations often miss the mark, such as the slightly bitter octopus huaraches, undercooked grilled corn, or blackened shrimp arepas. Some of the more successful items are the grilled avocado, sticky rice and char siu pork dumplings, and braised brisket buns and the sliced steak. Cocktails are creative but can skew sweet. Desserts are globally inspired. The Greek donuts served with honey ice cream were a surprisingly nice finish. If you’re still in the mood to party, after being surrounded by provocative street art, dimmed lights and loud music, head downstairs past the velvet rope to Vandal’s pulsing nightclub.
