Wei Jing Ge Restaurant Review:

The name Wei Jing Ge loosely translates to English as "blue sky view from the attic," so it's appropriate that the restaurant is perched on the top level of the heritage building of the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund, formerly known as the Shanghai Club. Graceful, elongated lanterns illuminate the rafters above, contributing to this feeling of dining in an attic (albeit a very elegant one). It's an ambience further augmented by the collection of art and Chinoiserie found among the décor. The restaurant also features a lounge and six private dining rooms. Chef Sam Yuen of Hong Kong executes quality, flavorful dishes drawn from Shanghainese, Cantonese and Huai Yang cuisines. Guests can choose from one of the set menus or order à la carte. Dishes are organized by course (appetizers, seafood, rice/noodles) and by region. Delicacies might range from braised e-fu noodles to seafood soup in sour and chili sauce to steamed grouper and pan-fried veal short rib in black pepper sauce. Complement your meal with wines from the cellar of approximately 500 bottles, or with selections from the Chinese teas.
