THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED White Oak Tavern & Inn Restaurant Review:

The bright, airy interior at White Oak Tavern in tony Lincoln Park is a far cry from the dark wood tones and rowdy male patrons the word “tavern” might conjure. While some taverns may be chiefly drinking establishments, here you come for the food. Chef Tom Van Lente (Big Star, Two) is cooking better than ever, serving balanced dishes like a supremely tender beef cheek salad with equal parts meat and spring vegetables at remarkably affordable prices. Early in the evening, families with small children feel welcome, and even little ones can’t resist the tavern fries and buttermilk waffles at brunch. Steaks and salmon are ideally cooked at medium rare, the former with a bright chimichurri crème fraîche and the latter atop a heaping mountain of sweet earthy peas and shiitake mushrooms. If you plan to imbibe and want to make a night of it, rent the White Oak Guest House, a spacious four-bedroom duplex apartment located above the restaurant.
