Yank Sing Restaurant Review:

This location of Yank Sing features the same dim sum that has drawn diners to the Financial District flagship for years. The large, elegant room in the Rincon Center is inviting --- nice for a leisurely Sunday brunch with the family or lunch with co-workers during the week. Vegetarian choices include snow pea shoot dumplings, plump and translucent with snow pea tendrils and scallions and just a hint of ginger, garlic and toasty sesame oil; and chive-juice-colored green tortellini filled with hand-chopped spinach, water chestnuts, carrots, shiitake mushrooms and bamboo shoots. Among seafood options consider the unique Phoenix Tail, a large whole shrimp encased in shrimp mousse croquette, lightly battered and fried until golden. Other standouts include the house-roasted Peking duck and moist sea bass with a caramelized honey-glazed exterior. While we have yet to meet a dumpling here that we didn't like, do try the signature Shanghai dumpling --- paper-thin, filled with Berkshire pork with a surprising burst of rich, hot broth. And save room for the coconut cream roll that comprises sweet rice filled with custard and topped with coconut flakes. Yank Sing 2 Go next door offers take-out dim sum and combination lunches.
