Yolk Test Kitchen Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant & décor: Owner Taki Kastanis extends his breakfast empire to the edge of the 606 trail in a modern building sharing space with condos and an Aldi. Flanked by windows, the restaurant is light, airy and urban. Diners enter through a coffee bar, a quiet spot for telecommuters or friends catching up over matcha lattes. A long bar stretches the length of the exhibition kitchen, but most people sit at the interior tables for more space.

Likes: Proactive servers; modern space and solid food.
Dislikes: None.

Food & Drinks: Unlike its sisters all over Chicagoland, the eatery gets a little more freedom to experiment. This is the "test kitchen" after all. While staples like the chicken skillet and smoked salmon Benny will satisfy the regulars, newcomers might have a taste for pork belly egg sandwiches or Korean hot chicken and waffles. The creamy breakfast mac 'n cheese was so popular that it now lives on the menu at all Yolks. Servers scout mindfully for any cup of coffee that needs replenishing or family who needs a kids’ menu.
