| This sultry Moroccan lounge from the owners of Barbés lies hidden in the back of the SoHo branch of French soap purveyor L’Occitane. (There’s a separate entrance if you’re not looking to browse before dinner.) The attractive bi-level space features overstuffed pillows and arabesque covered walls. A menu of North African standards is dominated by couscous and tagines. The couscous Royale---packed with merguez, chicken and vegetables---is an impressive rib-sticking feast. If you're not staying for dinner, the finger food briouats---small pastries filled with shrimp, eggplant or scallops---make a great lounge-y nibble. |
