Brunswick is a sleepy little vacation town that wakes right up in the summer with a farmers market, festivals and just a few downtown dining spots. Bacari serves small plates and large plates, and its martini bar is a hot-spot for even hotter summer nights. Try the eggplant rollatini to start, the eggplant crispy on the outside with tangy provolone inside, all dressed in a tomato sauce peppered with pine nuts. Spice it up with a blackened shrimp nestled in black bean salsa then go on to larger plates like the garlicky shrimp scampi with angel hair pasta or grilled mahi mahi with an exotic pineapple salsa. Desserts are sometimes sparse; on one evening, only a gelato was served, so ask ahead and plan accordingly.
