baci&abbracci Restaurant Review: Perhaps alluding to the ebullient nature of Italians, Brooklyn-based baci&abbracci (meaning “kisses and hugs”) feels like spending a day with unpretentious cousins. Located in a kitschy section of Williamsburg, this Italian gem draws neighborhood folk who relax in the white-walled main room or on the sun-kissed patio as they eat brick-oven pizzas, calamari fritti (served with two distinct sauces) or the extravagant calzone stuffed with ham, ricotta, mozzarella, mushrooms and a touch of tomato sauce. Dishes such as red beet and goat cheese gnocchi with cheese sauce and wild arugula tease the palate with complex flavors as do the lamb chops in a crispy potato-rosemary crust served with mix vegetables. The chocolate tartufo provides a satisfying ending. |
