In a roomy location on Second Street, one of the fastest-growing areas of Santa Fe, Backroad is a super spot to hit for a leisurely lunch and a likely place to run into friends. Though the traditional pie toppings--- sausage, tomatoes or chicken---sound mundane, the sausage is house-made, the chicken is house-roasted and the tomatoes are sun-dried. For a true Santa Fe experience, order green chile on your pizza, a spicy sauce that is served at virtually every restaurant in town, in dozens of different dishes. Backroad is off the beaten tourist path, but well worth the five minute drive from downtown for a slice---or a whole pie. |
