Bai Yook Restaurant Review: Bai Yook’s fresh and fast Thai food is traditional, the flavors familiar. Don’t visit if you are searching for scorching curries or exotic ingredients. Rather, this Hillcrest spot is ideal for families, casual business lunches or take-away service. The portions are large, and the atmosphere is low-key. We recommend starting with the mixed chicken and beef satay; the meat, tender and full of grilled smokiness, is paired with a sweet, subtly spicy peanut sauce. The tofu tod appetizer is also a favorite: bite into the crispy fried coating to discover a satiny tofu triangle within. Bai Yook excels with its massaman curry; this brown, coconut-type preparation gets its heartiness from potatoes, carrots and peanuts. In addition to curries, the menu also includes standards such as rice, noodle and stir-fried dishes. Try the sweet sticky rice with mango for dessert. |
