Frank Pelligrino Jr., whose family owns the legendary Rao's in Harlem, opened this spiffy eatery, in part, to provide the throngs of non-Rao's regulars with a chance to sample some signature dishes from the Uptown eatery. Though lemon chicken and copious antipasti are on the menu, the place feels very contemporary with comfortable pastel banquettes, beige walls and an attractive bar area where diners and non-diners alike can enjoy a glass of Italian wine. Pelligrino's family mastered Italian-American food and hospitality, and at Baldoria their heir-apparent tries to do the same.
