| The menu at chef John Greco’s sexy sushi spot is a far cry from the sprawling books larded with fried calamari and chicken fingers that you find elsewhere in this Midtown West neighborhood. (And those foods won’t be added anytime soon, as there are no stoves or burners in the restaurant’s kitchen.) Lined with camel-colored leather booths and low tables, the décor is that of a lounge, with flat-screens hanging above the 50-foot open cocktail-sushi bar and club music booming over the sound system. Breeze past the appetizers---only the baby octopus salad with Japanese pickles is of any interest---in favor of the specialty rolls. Don’t miss the dinosaur roll; made with salmon, tuna, yellowtail and mock crab, it delivers a clean taste with a refreshing hit of ginger in each bite. Chef Greco is not afraid to mix ingredients like chicken, cheese or pickles in the rolls here, which may not be the approach favored by purists but it does make for crowd-pleasing bites in a sleek after-work spot. |
