Bamboo Garden Vegetarian Cuisine Restaurant Review

: This Chinese vegetarian spot continues a long Buddhist tradition of totally meatless menus, but its remarkable and savory meat doppelgangers may astound many. Wheat seitan, tofu, vegetables and artfully rich sauces create both a visual and flavorful illusion of meat, mimicking everything from beef to chicken, pork, shrimp and even eel. The chicken looks and tastes like chicken; the fish has a similar flaky texture and the dark, scale-less skin all around. In the vegetarian world, Chinese food can be limited; here, you can eat imitation scallops that are tender and meaty, crispy fried oyster mushrooms, and rich pumpkin soup topped with puffed pastry. There is even faux abalone that has the density and texture of its real counterpart. Best of all, it's all guilt-free.
