THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Bambuddha Lounge Restaurant Review:
Revelers can't decide whether this nightspot located in the Phoenix Hotel makes a better restaurant or a better club. Sure, the list of specialty cocktails is long and enticing. Try the Monkey Cocotini made with vanilla vodka, coconut rum and served with a toasted coconut-rimmed glass. And yes, the beautiful people abound all over the Southeast Asian-inspired space. The sleek dining room features low-slung lacquered tables and bench-style seating, celadon green mixed with guava orange, and plenty of waterfalls. A bamboo-lined hallway leads to the sexy circular bar. Outside, a heated patio surrounds a pool and semi-cloaked daybeds. Nevertheless, sit down for a meal and you will be happily surprised to find that the family-style food is fresh, flavorful and out of the ordinary. Start with the five-spice duck sliced and served up with crisp cabbage and peanuts on a coconut pancake-meets-tortilla. Bambuddha's signature eight element salad may look like a mess on the plate but the Burmese-style flavors of lime, ginger, garlic, chili and sesame seeds explode in your mouth. A lollipop lamb chop is high-end finger food atop a bed of melon, cucumber, mint and macadamia nuts. Service can be stretched thin on weekend nights and the cocktail list outshines the wine list.
