THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Bamyan Restaurant Restaurant Review:

If you remember Bamyan from Old Town Alexandria, you’ll be happy to find it again at this Herndon relocation, where parking is easier and the setting is infused with Afghan charm. You’ll find plenty of memorabilia from its exotic routes, suggesting to guests that Afghanistan is both beautiful and extremely remote. If you know about Indian and Persian cooking, you’ll find this cuisine a familiar blend of the two. We enjoy the sambosa, a fried turnover filled with pleasantly seasoned chickpeas and ground beef, but the muntoo, or steamed dumplings, also makes a good meal beginning. The aush soup is a hearty meal-in-the-bowl dish of flavorful broth, pasta, ground beef, and a swirl of homemade yogurt. As for entrées, the most outstanding come from the grills, and of these the combination kebab with chunks of lamb, beef and chicken is outstanding. Stew-like dishes such as the kadu palow provide stout and filling meals. The best dessert is the plain firni, a pudding-like dish that is soothing and comforting. The biggest treat in town is the restaurant's lunch buffet, where succulent lamb is served in abundance. Worth the calories!
