THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Bandito Latin Kitchen & Cantina Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant & décor: Bandito Latin Kitchen & Cantina at the Hughes Center features the food of Latin America and Mexico served in a bright and cheerful atmosphere. The décor is a mix of rustic and modern, with hand-distressed wood, vibrant colors bathed in natural light through 30-foot-tall glass windows, Latin-themed wall murals and an outdoor patio with views of the Las Vegas Strip.
Likes: The menu lists dishes that are authentic with spiciness and are not Americanized versions.
Dislikes: The tequila selection is not massive, but has premium brands such as Patron, Don Julio and Casa Noble.
Food & Drinks: Starters are well represented by the very tender fried octopus with yellow peppers, Romanesco and red Bandito sauce, or chicharron and arugula salad with pork belly, roasted corn, heirloom tomato and rainbow carrots. An excellent entrée choice is one of the seven varieties of tacos, which come with achiote rice, charro beans and choice of a side, such as the potatoes al pastor topped with a sweet and slightly spicy sauce. The cantina program presents creative cocktails like the Smoking Bandito, a blend of Hornitos Black Barrel Anejo Tequila, pineapple juice, lime, black salt and agave that is garnished with a smoking sprig of rosemary. For dessert, relive your childhood with the pineapple upside-down cake, with the Bandito version made with equal parts flour and polenta and finished with tropical crema.
